Zamalanda Park

The former site of the Altos Hornos de Vizcaya blast furnaces next to the river estuary – an industrial area that marked the history of Barakaldo – is now Zamalanda Park, nine hectares devoted to nature, leisure and sport.

However, this recreational area still bears the mark of its manufacturing past: the Compañía Franco-Belga’s old ore loading bay remains, which dates back to 1886 and was used to export the ore from the inland mines.
