The Gernika Peace Museum


The Gernika Peace Museum is a thematic museum dedicated to the culture of peace. Inspired by the tragic bombing of Gernika, it addresses the two areas of work of the Museum, History and Peace, through various axes or questions.

It consists of several rooms, as well as emotional audiovisuals narrated by the survivors of the tragedy themselves.

The museum has different types of guided tours for groups or individuals, outdoor guided tours, temporary and permanent exhibitions, combined tickets with other museums, activities and workshops, congresses and its own shop.

  • After a brief introduction to the concept of Peace, this interactive museum takes us back to the 26th of April 1937, the day on which bombs and fire reduced the streets of the town of Gernika to rubble.
  • It comprises various rooms exhibiting poignant audiovisual presentations narrated by the survivors of the tragedy themselves.

Gernika-Lumo is a city steeped in history, in addition to having the Peace Museum, it is also a symbol of the most deeply-rooted traditions.
