Description
Landetxo Goikoa is an iconic Basque farmhouse located in the municipality of Mungia, considered the oldest in Bizkaia, built around 1510. The traditional building, with a rectangular floor plan and a gabled roof, is a reference of Gothic-Renaissance Basque rural architecture, featuring original elements such as its lintelled doorway and wooden structures that reflect the construction techniques of the time.
Landetxo Goikoa is part of Izenaduba Basoa, a theme park and interpretation center of Basque mythology, where history, legends, and the traditional life of the baserritarras intertwine. In this context, the farmhouse is also known as the house of Olentzero, the Basque mythological character associated with Christmas.
The site offers guided tours and activities for all audiences, allowing visitors to explore the history of Basque rural housing, as well as its customs, beliefs, and traditions. Tours take place in both the exterior and interior spaces of the farmhouse, some of which do not have ramps or adapted access. It is recommended to contact the center in advance to plan the visit and learn about facilities available for people with limited mobility.
This space meets minimum accessibility criteria, verified by specialized technicians.
