Bilbao green Way

In the last few years, the once grey Bilbao has changed colours. It is now a much friendlier looking and the recovery and creation of new green spaces is a key part of the city's transformation. These spaces are comprised of urban parks and forest areas. The former add up to 200  hectares in 21 parks. Forest areas make up 1,025  hectares distributed over five areas: Artxanda, Monte Avril, Arnotegi, Pagasarri and Arraiz with 21 recreational areas. These spaces have playgrounds, tables, grills, benches and informational and panoramic signage.

There is also the GR trail encircling the city centre, with 99.30  km passing through the forest preserves of the Green Way. It’s an enclosed area with paths, trails and streets well-marked with route references, places of interest and general information. There are entrances at several points of Bilbao from the 11 trails leading to the central path.
