Explore and enjoy the mountains, valleys, forests and villages in the area along these trails and live an experience that will leave its mark on you:

Ascent of Tologorri on the Black Trail

The spectacular summit of Mount Tologorri or Iturrigorri (1,068 m), in the Sierra Salvada, is a temptation that you won't be able to resist if you like the mountains.

The most common trail to climb Tologorri starts in Lendoño de Arriba and crosses the so-called Senda Negra. It is a narrow path which offers impressive views of the valley but it is not suitable for people with vertigo.

A total of 7.8 km can be covered in approximately 4 hours.

Wine and Fish Trail (G3-38)

For the most energetic and adventurous travellers, the Wine and Fish Trail is the perfect option: it starts in Álava, next to the vineyards of Oyón, and crosses the Basque Country from south to north all the way to the port of Bermeo.

Most of the stages of this trail are in Bizkaia, starting in Otxandio. They cross Urkiola, Durango and border the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve, on a long trail through mountains, forests and picturesque villages.

It is a real journey across time with a total distance (from Oyón) of 162.8 km and an estimated duration of 7 days.

Trail to Ogoño from Elantxobe

This beautiful trail starts next to the cemetery of Elantxobe—which is, by the way, one of the most beautiful villages in Bizkaia and is also worth a visit—and goes towards the impressive viewpoint of Ogoño. The first part of the trail is paved, but then becomes a footpath.

The trail is circular and one arrives at the cemetery approximately 3 hours later, having covered a distance of 5.5 km.

Spectacular views of the Bay of Biscay, together with the opportunity to spend the rest of the day in Elantxobe. Are you up for it?

Arrazola Greenway

The Arrazola Greenway, located in Axpe-Atxondo, is perfect for those who want to enjoy nature in a simple and accessible way.

It is a beautiful path that runs under the imposing shadow of Anboto, the abode of Mari, and runs along the valley of the river Arrazola along an old railway line.

The trail is completely flat, with a total distance of 10 km (roundtrip), and can be completed in just 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Trail from Gorliz to Armintza

This is a simple and pleasant family-firendly walk, which will allow you to get to know these two coastal towns and the beautiful green and blue landscape between them.

Along the trail, over the impressive cliffs, you will have the chance to see old bunkers built after the Civil War and the Gorliz lighthouse, the highest in the Basque Country.

The complete trail, round trip, covers a distance of 17 km, with an estimated duration of 6 hours.
