NERVION WATERFALL
Its 222 metre drop makes it the highest in the Iberian peninsula.
The river rises at the border with Araba-Álava and Burgos and runs through the valley to reach Bizkaia through the town of Orduña.
It's well worth a visit in winter or during the spring thaw when the water flow is at its highest.

ROMAN SETTLEMENT OF FORUA (Forua)
Standing on the Elexalde hill, this is the most important Roman monument in Bilbao Bizkaia.
An archaeological study has made it possible to document the existence of a settlement covering approximately 15 hectares, which was enclosed by a wall.

VIEWPOINT AT THE ARMAÑÓN NATURAL PARK
This viewpoint is located next to the entrance to the impressive cave of Pozalagua, boasting the largest number of excentric stalactites in the world. It offers some lovely views of the karst landscape of the Karrantza valley, which is of great ecological richness.

LA ARBOLEDA (Trapagaran)
This is one of the few still remaining mining villages in Bizkaia.
It was declared a Monumental Complex in 2003.
Its former mines, now converted into artificial lagoons, create a unique, surprising landscape.

LARRABETZU
It was declared a Monumental Complex due to its medieval architecture, which can still be recognised today.
It is located on the Way of St James and the Rutas Juraderas (routes of the oath) of the lords of Bizkaia, which has gradually shaped its character over the centuries.

BIOTOPE OF ITZINA (Gorbeia Naturale Park)
Orozko, specifically the recreational area of Elezkin, offers some incomparable views of this karstic massif, in the Gorbeia Natural Park.

This is one of the many natural vantage points offering awesome views of the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve.

LENDOÑOBEITI WATER MILL (Lendoño de aba)
Visit this restored water mill to learn about its history and that of the rest of the hamlets of Ruzabal, dating back more than 500 years.
The mill is fed by the waters rising in the spring of Iturrigorri.

HERMITAGE OF SANTA CATALINA (Mundaka)
Its spectacular location right by the sea not only offers some stunning views but also makes it a strategic point for watching over the entrance to the estuary, looking at the island of Izaro or the Ogoño cragg.

It stands in a beautiful setting of spacious green meadows and many mountain areas.
Numerous hermitages are dotted around the municipality Of particular mention is the old quarter of the rural neighbourhood of Libao with its elegant neoclassical church of San Martín and iconic boundary cross of the Santo Cristo.

THE MONUMENTAL COMPLEXOF BOLUNBURU (Zalla)
This monumental complex is one of the best examples of a feudal complex in Bilbao Bizkaia and comprises a tower house, the beautiful hermitage of Santa Ana (year 1610), the ruins of the ironworks and the mill, together with a spacious strip of land to enjoy the sun or do some sport.
Nearby is Castro de Bolunburu, a fortified settlement of the second Iron Age, standing on a hillock at an altitude of 320 metres and embraced by the Kadagua river."

SALDROPO WETLANDS (Zeanuri)
Located at the foot of the Atxuri crags.
This delightful plain forms a very particular ecosystem with water-related vegetation and species, of high ecological importance.

TRADITIONAL FARMHOUSES AT ISPASTER
With its back to the sea breeze, this municipality forms a beautiful Basque picture in which the 'Baserris' (traditional farmhouses) and fields of crops stand out on its green landscape.

AMOROTO SQUARE
With regard to this architectural complex, particular mention should be made of the Church, the Renaissance town hall with a lovely balcony looking onto the square, and the Abadetxea traditional farmhouse, which is a typical 19th century neoclassical construction.

BESAIDE (Elorrio)
This is an iconic point in Euskadi given that it is where the three Basque provinces meet.
On its summit, you'll also be able to see an amazing sculpture by the Japanese artist Yoshin Ogata and a monument to missing climbers by the architect, Pueyo.

TXAULAS (Shepherds' shelters)
In Bizkaia, Tologorri is one of the peaks that must be climbed.

This hermitage dominates the rocky summit of mount Urregarai.
A delightful path between birch trees and cypresses will take you to the foot of the summit where a flight of 222 stone steps awaits you, going as far as the terrace on which the hermitage stands.

This small village, located in the foothills of mount Oiz, is considered to be the vantage point of Durangaldea. From there you can admire the scenic beauty of the district.

LAS TRES CRUCES (THE THREE CROSSES) VIEWPOINT (Abadiño/Urkiola)
The trail that will take you to the viewpoint starts by the Sanctuary of San Antonio de Urkiola.
It is a Via Crucis among beech woods, ending in three enormous crosses and at the viewpoint, offering a stunning panoramic view over the Atxarte gorge and the whole area of Durangaldea.
There you will find an interpretation panel which will help you to identify the surrounding hills.
