Description
Sala Rekalde is a space dedicated to fostering knowledge, engagement and the dissemination of diverse contemporary artistic practices.
Since its creation in 1991, its development has been linked to research into contemporary production both within and beyond our borders through work proposals capable of reflecting the debates surrounding art today.
Sala Rekalde is intended to be a place where key aspects relating to the meaning of artistic production, the different forms of presentation and representation of art, as well as the capacity of art to engage in dialogue with different audiences can be shared.
Structurally divided into two spaces, Rekalde aims to operate at different rhythms, delving into different formats of work from exhibitions, specific projects for presenting artworks, debate sessions, video screenings, conferences and publications. Sala Rekalde aims to be a space created by all those who wish to participate in an open debate on the different languages of culture; in short, it aims to offer itself as a platform for learning about contemporary artistic practice.
Sala Rekalde is a cultural facility integrated into the urban environment of Bilbao, with access from the public street. The exhibition space is organised through clear and continuous interior routes, adapted to the display of contemporary art and the hosting of a wide range of cultural activities. As the programme includes temporary exhibitions, specific projects and events in different formats, accessibility conditions may vary depending on the exhibition layout and the activity scheduled at any given time. For this reason, it is recommended that visitors, according to their specific accessibility needs, contact Sala Rekalde in advance to obtain information on access conditions, available routes and existing support during the visit.
