Description
In Bilbao, bullfights were traditionally held in the Plaza Vieja, where a circular arena was set up, behind which stands were erected with scaffolding, first made of wood and later metal. In 1848, a wooden bullring was erected at the gates of the city, which did not last long, just like the one that replaced it, also made of wood, behind the Zabalburu Palace. Later, in 1865, a sturdy wooden bullring was built on the land that today makes up the Elcano and Fernández del Campo streets. In 1870, its walls were built up to the boxes. The balconies had a linteled first floor and a second floor with wooden arches. A wide peripheral corridor allowed spectators to enjoy beautiful views during breaks. With the renovation, the bullring reached a capacity of 9,000 spectators.
The first Vista Alegre Bullring was inaugurated on 13 August 1882 under the direction of architect Sabino Goikoetxea Etxebarria, with a seating capacity of 12,394. The bullring was built on the slopes of Mount Uriza, southwest of Bilbao, on land belonging to the Church. The bullring, which was inaugurated in August of that year, had 24 sides, each with three floors with three semicircular windows and doors on the ground floor. The bullfighters who inaugurated this bullring were Manuel Fuentes “Bocanegra”, José Lara “Chicorro” and Fernando Gómez “Gallito Chico” with bulls from Concha y Sierra.
The Bilbao Bullfighting Museum is part of the Vista Alegre Bullring complex, a historic site whose architectural layout affects accessibility. General access to the bullring is via stairways, so people with reduced mobility must enter the complex from the external car park. Access to the museum for wheelchair users is through a secondary entrance, reached by a ramp with two sections: one with a moderate slope and another exceeding an 8% gradient. There are adjoining spaces that can be configured for meetings or conferences. Accessibility conditions may vary depending on the areas open to visitors; therefore, people with specific accessibility needs are advised to contact the museum in advance to obtain information about available access points, possible routes, and support services during the visit.

Museoa birmoldatzeko fasean murgilduta dago, areto osoaren antzera.
MMPek kanpoko aparkalekutik sartu behar dute Plazaren barrualdera, sarrera orokorra eskailera-tarte batetik abiatzen delako.
Museoaren ondoan bilerak edo hitzaldiak egiteko gela gisa antolatu daitezkeen esparru irekiak daude.
