Visit to the Pozalagua Cave

POZALAGUA CAVES

Description of the activity/company

The Pozalagua cave was discovered by chance on December 28, 1957 due to the work of a nearby quarry that extracted dolomite. The explosion of a charge of dynamite opened a hole in the mountain wall, revealing an unknown and fascinating underground world.

Pozalagua is a wonder of nature, an underground cathedral that extends under the rocks of the Armañon Natural Park, in Karrantza (Bizkaia). It has one of the largest concentrations of eccentric stalactites in the world, formations that seem to defy gravity and make up a dazzling mosaic.

On the guided tour, you will travel to the most spectacular bowels of the earth, discovering an entire underground world full of stalactites, stalagmites, lava flows and, of course, the eccentric stalactites that make Pozalagua unique in the world.
