EUSKARAREN ETXEA
The Casa del Euskera, Basque interpretation center.
The House of Euskera (Euskararen Etxea) is located in the San Ignacio neighborhood. It was founded in 2004, as a result of collaboration between the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, the Bilbao City Council and the Basque Government. Today it is managed by Azkue Fundazioa.
EUSKARAREN INTERPRETAZIO ZENTROA (BASQUE INTERPRETATION CENTER)
The center offers interesting and useful information about the history and situation of Basque. It can be visited in Basque, Spanish, English or French and free guided tours are also offered. Visiting hours: Monday to Saturday: 10:00 – 14:00 and 16:00 – 19:00
The exhibition will offer a playful and detailed visit based on the senses; That is, starting from an experiential and recreational visit, visitors will immerse themselves in the multifaceted character of Basque.
The exhibition consists of several areas. We will find a database that informs us about the day-to-day situation of Basque, a review of the history of Basque, the possibility of playing with words in Basque, bells with audiovisuals to learn about its transmission and diversity, the challenges for future, the richness and quality of Basque culture. Likewise, given that Basque is linked to positive values, the exhibition also wants to be optimistic, welcoming, broad.
All content is in four languages: Basque, Spanish, English and French.
Free guided tours are offered. It can be visited individually or in a group and schools have the possibility of participating in the School Program.
