Azkuna Zentroa

Azkuna Zentroa is Bilbao's Centre for Contemporary Society and Culture, with a local and international outlook, and open to dialogue with different communities of audiences. Azkuna Zentroa is the place to experience culture as a practice, as a process, as a space for experiences, with extensive programming and mediation tools that it makes available to people. The centre promotes cultural diversity accessible to all people by establishing, among other measures, reduced rates in cultural programming activities for different communities of audiences.

At the same time, it has extensive opening hours and its information space (AZ Info) where you can consult the Centre's programme and carry out the procedures you need, such as the processing of the Az Card that allows you to enjoy the wide range of cultural, social and physical activity in the centre.

General and/or specific data

  • Azkuna Zentroa, also known as the Alhóndiga building, was an important wine warehouse, which has now been converted into a centre for leisure and culture.
  • The façades of the original building have been maintained and rehabilitated, which contrasts with the urban interior space, unique, sober and original, designed by the French designer Philippe Starck.
