Loizaga Tower: An Antique and Classic Car Museum
Go back to Loizaga Tower
Description
Located in a fascinating landscape among the mountains of the Basque Country, 30 kilometres from Bilbao in a region, Las Encartaciones, where nature, art and history come together, the majestic Torre Loizaga fortress, the former defensive bastion of the Ochoa García de Loyzaga lineage, has stood since the 14th century. It was rescued from ruin by Miguel de la Vía, a businessman and collector from Galdames, whose artistic temperament drove him to undertake an enormous reconstruction project that would take decades of skilled and dedicated work.
It is a perfect location for a unique collection that began with the founder’s particular passion for Rolls-Royce, while also bringing together another collection of automotive icons from prestigious brands, spanning from the dawn of the automotive era to the present day. The success of the company is demonstrated by the fact that today the Museum of Classic and Vintage Cars has become an unmissable meeting point for all lovers of motoring, nature and history. The beauty of the surroundings and the quality of its facilities also mean that the most demanding events and weddings are sure to be a success.
The site provides a parking area and offers the support of an audio guide to facilitate following the contents during the visit. As this is a historic complex with interior and exterior spaces of differing characteristics, and with varied uses linked both to cultural visits and the hosting of events, it is recommended that each visitor, according to their specific accessibility needs, contact the museum in advance to check access conditions, available routes and support services that may facilitate the experience.
