The magic of Pozalagua Festival

Where Nature, Art and Music meet

The Pozalagua festival is held in front of the cave it shares a name with, located in Karrantza, barely an hour's drive from Bilbao.

This is undoubtedly one of the most magical events you can attend in Bilbao Bizkaia, as it offers the chance to enjoy the music of local and international artists in a very special setting.

The natural amphitheatre of the Pozalagua cave is not only incredibly beautiful and evocative, but also offers perfect acoustics and therefore a rich and immersive experience.

When you find your seat in the grand stands, in the middle of a landscape sculpted by water, wind and centuries, and the music starts to play, you will know that you are living a truly special experience. As, in fact, the Pozalagua festival cannot be explained: it has to be experienced.

The Cave of Pozalagua, the Buried Cathedral Sculpted by the Course of Time

The Pozalagua festival would be meaningless if it were not for the cave that gives it its name. It is hidden in the Peñas de Ranero, and is one of the most valuable geological treasures of Bilbao Bizkaia.

The Pozalagua cave, discovered by chance in 1957 during work in a nearby quarry, is a true wonder of nature. It is distinguished by the large accumulation of eccentric stalactites that grow in all directions, defying gravity, creating a surreal environment similar to that of a great underground cathedral.

The cave is approximately 125 metres long. During the visit one can admire rooms such as those known as Versailles or the Auditorium, each of which has its own particular and special characteristics.

Don't hesitate: even if you don't make it to the festival in time, the Pozalagua cave is a visit that should not be missed, and even more so considering the great natural, scenic and heritage richness of the Karrantza Valley in which it is located.
