Discoveries and reunions at Bilbao BBK Live 2022
After two long years of absence, the Bilbao BBK Live Festival returns next summer.
- 7 · 9 july
Already established as one of the best festivals, both in the country and abroad, BBK Live allows you to enjoy the latest music trends in the most amazing atmosphere for three whole days.
Based at Kobetamendi, on the slopes of Mount Cobetas, the festival was first held in 2006. Since then, international bands and artists like Andrés Calamaro, Coldplay, Green Day, Iron Maiden, Lenny Kravitz, Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers or The Police, and Basque artists such as Fermín Muguruza, Fito y Fitipaldis or Berri Txarrak have performed on its stages. The festival is returning in 2022 for its 15th edition, featuring a varied and impressive line-up.
During the three days of the festival, Kobetamendi is transformed into an indie village where the best past and present international music meet. With a capacity of 15,000 people, BBK Live attracts thousands of music fans from all over the world each year, providing space not only for concerts but also for camping and other amenities.
The 15th edition of Bilbao BBK Live will take place from July 7 to July 9, 2022. Everything has been carefully arranged so that you can savour each performance, with plenty of time for you to make the most of every moment. This is, together with the exceptional natural setting where the festival is hosted, what makes BBK Live a truly unique experience.
After a two-year postponement due to the pandemic, we can finally announce that the full line-up for Bilbao BBK Live 2022 has already been confirmed. The list includes international names such as The Killers, the American band known for songs like Human o Mr. Brightside. Young Argentine singer Nathy Peluso will delight us with her music, a fusion of hip hop, soul and jazz. J Balvin, the “Prince of Reggaeton", will make us sing with his Latin urban style. Stromae, Moderat, Placebo, M.I.A. and Four Tet will perform at the festival too, and the Basoa Stage will surprise us with an electrifying programme.
Did you buy any tickets for 2020 or 2021? If so, you will be happy to know they are valid for 2022!
How to reach us
Two uninterrupted free bus services will be running from 12 p.m. tomorrow, Thursday 9, to 12 p.m. on Sunday 12, at flexible intervals depending on the needs, especially during times of higher demand. One of the lines will depart from the centre of Bilbao, next to San Mames Metro Station and the Intermodal bus station, while the other will leave from the BEC in Barakaldo (near Ansio Metro Station).
The same bus lines will take you to the festival entrance before 4 p.m. However, due to the expected crowds, from that time onwards the routes will end at the former Beyena factory, so the remaining distance will have to be covered on foot. To get back from Kobetamendi, both services will depart from the former Beyena factory and arrive at San Mamés and the BEC respectively.
Where to eat
Since the gastronomic offer at the BBK Live festival is primarily based on the ‘food truck’ philosophy, all the food will be served by mobile eateries. Their wide variety of tasty dishes will help you replenish your energy between one concert and the next. Among them you will find hot dogs, artisan pizzas, sandwiches made with gourmet breads, hamburgers (including vegan ones), chips, or kebabs.
If you prefer something sweet instead, you can opt for a refreshing ice cream or a delicious crêpe. And don’t worry if you are vegan or coeliac because there are plenty of options for you too. Even gluten-free beer is served. Bon apetite!
Where to sleep
Just three kilometres away from the venue is the BBK Live camping area, a large green tract surrounded by trees that covers approximately 120,000 square metres and has space to accommodate about 12,000 people.
There is also a ‘glamping’ site, a deluxe campsite inside the venue that offers the same services as a hotel (single or double beds, bed linen, lighting, electricity, and even a breakfast buffet). A great way to spend a cosy night in Kobetamendi while still sleeping under the stars.
Those who prefer the comfort of a room to have some rest can book their accommodation in Bilbao. Thanks to the regular buses that run from Kobetamendi to the city centre, you can choose from a huge range of hotels, hostels, apartments and the like.
Make sure you are well-equipped to spend three spine-tingling days full of concerts, dancing and excitement. The festival is held at Mount Kobetas so we recommend you to wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Do not forget to take a pair of sunglasses, some sunscreen, and a raincoat just in case it rains. Remember to wear your festival wristband at all times. Although BBK Live is a festival for all ages, under 16s can only enter in the company of an adult. The same applies to children under the age of 10, but they can attend the festival for free.
