Bilbao Airport (BIO)

Description

It is located 12 km from Bilbao, in the municipality of Loiu. It is the most important airport on the Cantabrian coast in terms of passenger numbers and economic impact. And its new terminal was designed by Santiago Calatrava. It is accessible by adapted public transport. The Bizkaibus A3247 line links Bilbao’s bus terminal (Bilbao Intermodal) with the airport, with stops at Gran Vía 79, Plaza Moyua and Alameda Recalde 11. On the arrivals floor, there is a customer service and ticket sales desk.

The company Pesa has routes covering Zarautz-San Sebastián and Eibar-Bergara-Arrasate. For assistance for people with reduced mobility, you must give a minimum of 24 hours’ notice.

The airport is divided into four floors:

  • Floor 0: Arrivals, parking access, taxi and bus stops, meeting point for people with reduced mobility, tourist office, toilets, lost luggage office, currency exchange, food options, waiting room and baggage claim.
  • Floor 1: Waiting room.
  • Floor 2: Toilets, VIP lounge and boarding gates.
  • Floor 3: Departures, parking access, taxi rank and bus stops, meeting points for people with reduced mobility, ticket sales desks, check-in, information desk, travel agencies, security control and boarding area.
